Windell Gene “Blackie” Ake, age, 69, of Buffalo, passed away, Friday, November 19, 2021, at his residence.
He was a retired truck driver for Thompson Heading & Stave Mill, an Army Vietnam Veteran, a member Mt. Zion Separate Baptist Church and attended Ovesen Heights Baptist Church.
Windell was preceded in death by his parents, William and Virginia Moseley Ake; a brother, Larry Ake and a half sister Debra Ake.
He is survived by his wife, Shelia Bell Ake, a daughter Shelly Ake of Elizabethtown; two sons, Windell Gene Ake Jr. of Buffalo and Travis (Christy) Ake of Bloomfield; five grandchildren, Trevor Ake, Trenton Ake, Kelly Ake, Hunter Dye and Autumn Dye; a great-grandson, Tyler Ake; three step-grandchildren, Justin Evans, Hunter Evans and Allyson Evans; a sister, Elaine (Leslie) Graham of Oklahoma and three half-brothers, Curtis (Alicia) Ake of Texas, Donnie Joe (Mona Lisa) Ake of New Mexico and Ronnie Ake of Texas.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, November 22, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Bro. Merrill Kurtz officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 10 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
