Virgie Ann Underwood Thompson, age 99, of Hodgenville, passed away, Thursday, March 19, 2026, at her residence.
She was the last living charter and oldest member of Lincoln Memorial Baptist Church and led the ladies prayer group for many years.
Virgie was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Roy Thompson; her parents, Nancy Stillwell and Elmer Wesley Underwood; four sisters, Essie McDowell, Dorothy Underwood, Cora Curry and Marie Underwood; four brothers, Rev. Edgar Underwood, Herman Underwood, Stanley Underwood and Henry Underwood and a great-granddaughter, Caitlin West.
She is survived by two daughters, Gloria Allen and Unay (Bill) Marcum all of Hodgenville; three grandchildren, Brian Bean of Burkesville, Robin (Matt) King of Hodgenville and Tina (Arlo Ashby) Marcum of Buffalo, four great-grandchildren, Dylan West, Josh Groce, Myaleiha (Thomas Graves) Bean and Haley King and two great great-grandchildren Leah Rose West and Avery Brooke Blaize.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 22, at Lincoln Memorial Baptist Church with Bro. Tom Downey and Bro. David Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Saturday and after 10 a.m. Sunday morning at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home.
