Suzann McCoy Obituary

Suzann McRae Batterton McCoy celebrated her homegoing on Friday, February 5, 2021 in her home surrounded by family, after years of fighting breast cancer.

Suzann was born on November 4, 1954 in Greensburg, IN to her parents Van and Vivian Patton Batterton. She was the loving wife of W.L. McCoy whom she married on August 21, 1976 at Greensburg Presbyterian Church. Suzann graduated from Georgetown College with a bachelor's degree in home economics and a minor in art and was a member of the Delta Eta chapter of the Phi Mu fraternity. Suzann managed McCoy’s Image Studio for 42 years alongside her husband.

The beauty reflected in nature and creative arts filled her everyday life. Her home was adorned with her skillfully made decorations, granddaughters dressed in her colorfully sewn clothing, and friends cherished her handmade gifts. Suzann was a Kentucky Master Gardener and spent warm days in the sun planting flowers and vegetables. She also enjoyed spending time at Batterton’s Springhill Farm in Greensburg as the fourth-generation owner. Suzann’s warm spirit was felt by others through her delicious cooking, kind hospitality, and generous heart.

Suzann’s faith in Christ radiated through her soft voice, bright smile, and sincere kindness towards friends, family, and strangers. Suzann was active in her community through many church outreach projects, mission trips, and Relay for Life. Her strong commitment to God's word was her cornerstone, especially as she fought against cancer during the last years of her life.

Suzann is survived by her loving husband W.L. McCoy, son Andrew Franklin Pleak McCoy and daughter-in-law Emily Whiteside McCoy, daughter Angelina McCoy and son-in-law Claudio Toro Serey, and granddaughters Lily McCoy, Ruby McCoy, and Zoe Toro-McCoy.

Due to COVID 19, there will be a private funeral service with burial to follow near her family farm in Springhill Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Greensburg, IN.  The family plans to celebrate Suzann’s life with the community through a memorial service later in 2021.

The McCoys welcome donations to the Parkway Baptist Church, Relay for Life Team in support of the American Cancer Society.

Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville is in charge of the arrangements.
