Betty Sue Hunter Brockman, age 84, of Louisville, formerly of Hodgenville, passed away on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Norton Hospital Brownsboro in Louisville.
Sue was retired from the LaRue County School System, where she served 27 years.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Edith Hunter, of Marrowbone, Kentucky.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, Edward Russell Brockman; her son, Dr. Edward Britt Brockman (Mary); five grandchildren, Michéla Yule (Jesse), Coulter Minix (Megan), Ian Brockman, Chris Brockman, and Zoe Brockman; and four great grandchildren, Wyatt, Rhys, Dylan, and Rory.
Sue absolutely and unconditionally loved her family and was proud of each of them for their own individual strengths and talents. Sue enjoyed spending time with loved ones during visits, holidays, and weekends at the lake. She was an amazing cook who freely shared her culinary talents with those around her.
Sue lifted people up and made everyone around her better through deep love, constant encouragement, personal example, and countless hours tutoring, sewing costumes, and any handiwork needed for school projects.
Sue’s greatest and most enduring legacy was her lifelong love and devotion to her best friend and one and only partner in life, her husband Russell.
Sue was an active and contributing member of Hodgenville Christian Church. Her interests and hobbies included puzzling, sewing, gardening, camping, boating, and spending weekends on Nolin Lake.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, January 12, at Bennett Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Brother Greg Alexander officiating. Sue will be laid to rest at Red Hill Cemetery in Hodgenville.
Visitation will be at held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and continue after 10 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
