Shirley Mae Dawson Milam, age 85, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Baptist Health Hardin.
A native of Hardin County, her greatest joy in life was raising her five children and cherishing time with each of them. She deeply adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family was the true highlight of her life, along with her love for traveling and shopping and was a true UK basketball fan.
Shirley was preceded in death by her father and mother, Joseph Shirely Masterson and Mary Lettie Masterson; her son, Ellis “Dean” Dawson and a grandchild, Amy Dawson.
She is survived by her four daughters, Debbie (Rodney) Sharp, Vanessa (Frankie) Dunn and Shannon Keesee, all of Elizabethtown and Phyllis Dawson (Mike) of Grand Rivers; eight grandchildren, Nick and Matt Dawson, BJ Masterson and Ashley Biven, Jeremy Dunn and Danielle VanderMolen and Kyle and Austin Keesee; nineteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Helen Abell of Radcliff and Doris Keplinger of Elizabethtown, and a brother, Delbert Masterson of White Mills.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m., Friday, June 6, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Bro. Steve Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in St. James Catholic Church Cemetery in Elizabethtown.
Visitation begins at 1 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
