Shirley (Hornback) Barr

Shirley Mae Barr, 76, of Hodgenville, passed away, surrounded by family on September 3, 2024, in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.

She is survived by her Husband of 47 years, David Kevin Barr; her sisters, Linda Sue Moyer and Joyce Lynn (Kenny) Perry. 

Shirely was preceded in death by her parents, Ursley May Exiler Hornback and William Hornback and sisters Ada Meredith and Katherine Druen.

She was a member of Ovesen Heights Baptist Church in Hodgenville, Kentucky.

Shirley’s passions included gardening, traveling, being a housewife, caring for her home, her pets and her husband. She supported David during his service in the United States Army, including spending time in Japan from 1990 to 1993. Shirley worked in the Arts and Crafts Center in Camp Zama, Japan.

She also leaves behind 16 nieces and nephews and 54 great-nieces and nephews. As a pillar of strength and a beacon of love, her absence leaves a void in our hearts and a legacy of kindness and strength.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. (ET), Sunday, September 8, at Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia with Revs. Don Flanagan and Mike Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Jenkins Cemetery in Elizabethtown.

Visitation will be from 4:30 to 8 p.m. (ET) Saturday and after 12 noon (ET) Sunday at the funeral home.
