Robert Kenneth Claycomb

November 29, 1952 ~ November 17, 2021 (age 68)


Robert Kenneth Claycomb, age 68, of Hodgenville, passed away, Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.


Born November 29, 1952, to the late Wathen G. and Marjorie Gilbert Claycomb, he was a graduate of Transylvania University and Northern Kentucky University Chase College of Law.  He practiced law in Hodgenville and was delighted when he was joined in practice by his son, Tom and daughter-in-law Catherine; a member of Hodgenville United Methodist Church and Hodgenville Lions Club, served on the board of directors for Lincoln National Bank, Lincoln Trail Area Development District and Elizabethtown Community and Technical College and in 2012, he served as chair of the Kentucky Council of Area Development Districts.  He also enjoyed reading, traveling and storytelling.


He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lynn McCubbin Claycomb; his beloved children; a daughter, Ellen and fiancé Dave of Brooklyn, NY; two sons, Brandon (Kellie) Claycomb of Issaquah, Washington and Tom (Catherine) Claycomb of Hodgenville; the lights of his life, his grandchildren, Alex, Bella, Peyton and Jones; two sisters, Georgiana (Mike) Swauger of Fort Thomas and Nancy (Jeff) Hazle of Elizabethtown; a brother-in-law, Steve (Melinda) McCubbin of Hodgenville; a sister-in-law, Sarah (David) McCubbin-Cain of Lexington; a cousin Rex (Rita) Tanner of Brandenburg; his much loved nieces and nephews and host of friends.


Cremation was chosen and a celebration of life will take place at a later date.


Expressions of sympathy may take the form on contributions to the Robert K. Claycomb Memorial Scholarship with checks made payable to ECTC and mailed to ECTC Office of Institutional Advancement, 600 College Street Road, Elizabethtown, KY 42701.


The family also encourages everyone to consider becoming an organ donor and give the gift of health or life to another.
