Robert I. Baumgardner age 88, of Hodgenville, born May 12, 1934, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 5th, 2023.
He left this world surrounded by loved ones and will be remembered as a husband, dad, grandpa & pops to many that loved him.
A lifelong resident of Hodgenville, he retired from the US Army after 20 years of service, worked for LaRue County Barn and retired from Civil Service at age 56 from Fort Knox doing what he loved, running a Mess Hall. He loved to cook for his family and enjoyed playing cards with his friends.
Roberts was preceded in death by his parents, Octave and Rosetta Ford Baumgardner; three brothers, James, William and Ronald Baumgardner; two sisters, Velma Spanier and Edna Sopp.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Kathy Cotter Baumgardner; a son Shane (Edith) Baumgardner of Hodgenville; two daughters, Tracie (Dale) Davis of Hodgenville and Kelly (Reese) Byrd of Vidor, Texas;11 Grandchildren, Michael (Jackie) Davis, BJ (Kristina) Davis, Josh (Natalie) Davis, Daisy, Sammy and Trace Baumgardner all of Hodgenville, Lauren (Jon) Houchin, Erin Byrd, Amanda Byrd and Kourtney (Andy) Greenlish all of Vidor, Texas, Chad (Meghan) Baumgardner of Beaumont, Texas.; 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 14, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Bro. Dewayne Gibson, Bro. David Waddle, Shane Baumgardner and Reese Byrd officiating.
Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
