Rita Leora Slayton Bratcher, age 72, of Mount Sherman, was born January 9th 1951 and departed this life on Saturday, August 5th 2023, at her home.
She made a profession in faith and was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. She loved her Heavenly Father and was an avid prayer warrior, a caretaker, homemaker and loved to decorate and entertain people; a woman of many talents.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Gladys Noe Slayton; three sisters, Mary Lewis, Joyce Thompson and Geraldine Benningfield Geary; a brother, Johnnie Slayton; four sisters-in-law, Carolyn Slayton, Mary Louise Slayton, Mae Slayton and Sandra Slayton; three brothers-in-law, Ken Benningfield, Roscoe Lewis and Joe Thompson as well as an unborn child, who she was so excited to finally hold.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years Jerry Bratcher, having united in marriage on December 21st 1968; two daughters, Michelle (Greg) Miller and Keisha (Eddie) Thompson, all of Hodgenville; three grandchildren, Shelby Underwood of Campbellsville, Savannah (Chandler) Wisdom of Columbia and Mason Thompson of Hodgenville; two brothers, Thomas Slayton and Sammy “Bo” Slayton, both of Magnolia; her best friend of forty years, Scarlett Murray; a niece, Diane Haycraft, who was like a sister to her and a host of other nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Tuesday, August 8, at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church with Bro. Shannon McCubbin and Bro. Troy Benningfield officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia and after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
