Obituary

Nancy B. Coffman, 87, of DeKalb passed away on Feb. 6, 2023, after a recent hospitalization at Kishwaukee Hospital for long term health issues.  She was surrounded by family and received loving words and prayers from family afar in the preceding days.

 

Nancy was born June 25, 1935, in Rochelle, IL to Gilbert B. Brook and Mildred (Sallee) Brook.

After graduating from Rochelle Township High School in 1953, she attended the University of Illinois.  She graduated from the college of Nursing, Chicago in 1958.

While living with her husband Bob Bradbury, in Rapid City, SD, she served as a nurse until her first son was born.  She spent the next 25 years raising and nurturing her 4 beloved children. 

 

Nancy was the Business Manager at the Daily Chronicle for 15 years until her retirement in 1996.  She was a long-time active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church as a council member, teacher, and member of Martha’s Sisters.  She was a member of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

 

In 1987, she married Wayne Coffman.  They were together for 35 years.  Nancy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. 

 

Nancy is survived by her husband, Wayne of DeKalb; brother Gil Brook Jr. (wife Meg) of San Rafael, CA; son Dave Bradbury (wife Rosario) of Tustin, CA; daughter Ruthann (husband John) of Colorado Springs, CO; daughter Sue Clay (husband Phil) of Muncie, IN; son Mark (wife Viola) of Henderson, TX; stepdaughter Denise Coffman of Ashton and stepson Kevin (wife Laura) of Ashton.

 

She is survived by the grandchildren she cherished.  David Bradbury; Jack, Josh, and Bethany Witkop; Lucas, Nolan, and Weston Clay; Claire Coffman and Mallory and Ella Coffman.

 

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 18, from 9:00am-11:00am at Finch Funeral Home, 310 Oak St. DeKalb, IL 60115 (815)758-3841, www.finchfuneralhomedekalb.com.

 

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at 11:00am at the funeral home with Pastor Carl Rasmussen officiating.

 

Nancy will be buried at South Fork Baptist Church Cemetery in Hodgenville, alongside her parents and family.

 

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the donor’s charity of choice.

 

DeKalb arrangements were entrusted to Finch Funeral Home.

 

Graveside services will be handled by Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home.
