Mildred Bernice Oakes, 91, of Hodgenville, passed away, Sunday evening, September 26, 2021, at her residence.
Bernice professed faith in Christ early in life and was a member of Otter Creek Separate Baptist Church, she was a retired bus driver for Taylor County Schools and a former employee of Sunrise Manor Nursing Home, a loving mother and housewife.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Junior Oaks; two sons, Jimmy Dale Lee and Johnnie Lee; her parents, Everett Underwood and Lou Brewer Underwood Hash; two brothers, Carl Underwood and Harlan Hash; three sisters, Goldie Brewer, Virginia Hash and Ruby Medley; two step-brothers, Rev. Thomas Hash and Lonnie Hash; a step-sister, Helen Wright; four half-brothers, Rondal, Jerry, David and Eddie Underwood.ash and Ruby Medley; two step-brothers, Rev. Thomas Hash and Lonnie Hash Hash
Bernice is survived by two daughters, Sheryl (Ronnie) Benningfield of Hodgenville and Edna (J.P.) Wierwille of Elizabethtown; a son, Joey (Lora) Lee of Elizabethtown; six grandchildren; Brittany Benningfield of Illinois, Ashley Benningfield of Hodgenville, Tonda (Dan) Holman of South Carolina, Mr. and Mrs. Jason Underwood of Louisville, Danielle Lee of Florida, Jackie Lee of Elizabethtown; two great-grandchildren, a half sister, Delores Hash Wilson of Texas; several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, October 1, at Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia, Bro. James Crim officiating. Burial will follow in Otter Creek Church Cemetery.
Visitation will begin after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
