Melvin Ray Cromwell, age 87, of Sonora, passed away, Saturday, April 15, 2023, at his residence.
He was an Army Veteran, a lifelong member of Salem Christian Church in Hodgenville, retired from Pence Construction Company after 29 years of service and was a Kentucky Colonel.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, John and Maggie Reed Cromwell; two sisters, Helen Duncan and Frances Cromwell Eans; two brothers, George Brown and Curtis Cromwell.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jennie Jenkins Cromwell; two sons, Derek (Brenda) Cromwell of Berrien Springs Michigan and Brian Cromwell of Sonora; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth Cromwell, Robert Cromwell, Paul Cromwell, Andrew (Tristyn) Cromwell, Sarah Cromwell, Noah Cromwell and Simon Cromwell; two great-grandchildren, Owen Cromwell and Oliver Cromwell.
Funeral services will be 2 pm Wednesday, April 19, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Bro. Sid Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Upton Cemetery.
Visitation will be 3 to 8 pm Tuesday and after 10 am Wednesday at the funeral home.
