Mattie R. DeSpain Puyear, age 92, of Hodgenville, passed away Friday, April 22, 2022, at Baptist Hospital in Louisville.
She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church for 82 years and along with her late husband owned and operated B&M Coin Laundry for many years.
Mattie was preceded in death by her husband, William Puyear, Sr.; her parents, Fred Jackson and Fannie Stella Coy DeSpain; a granddaughter, Missy Edlin Noe; a sister, Martha DeSpain Browne and three brothers, Otis Harold DeSpain, William Jeff DeSpain and Raymond DeSpain.
She is survived by a son, William C. (Faye) Puyear, Jr. of Hodgenville; three daughters, Carolyn (Ronnie) Hatcher of Glendale; Sharon (Eddie) Whelan of Howardstown and Becky (Don) Edlin of Hodgenville; six grandchildren, Chad (Lori) Puyear, Clint Carrington, Crystal Edlin, Greg (Toni) Edlin, Casey (Dan) Ramsey and Ty (Mandy) Puyear; sixteen great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 24, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Brad Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m., Saturday and after 10 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
