Martha Sue Young

Martha Sue Young, age 80, of Hodgenville, passed away, Sunday, September 18, 2022, at home surrounded by her family.

She was a retired manager for Avon, co-founder of the breast cancer support group in LaRue County, a member of Hodgenville First Baptist Church and a past member of LaRue County Hawks Band Boosters. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She loved to travel, loved the Lord and was an avid reader.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, J.W. “Buck” and Cleota Highbaugh Sturgeon; three brothers, J.L., Walter A., and Dan Sturgeon; a sister, Elizabeth Jones.

She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Kenneth W. Young; a son, Kent T. Young; two daughters, Susan (Alan) Young and Mary Beth Young; two grandsons, Damon (Lori) Barnes and Jacob (Detra) Barnes; a special granddaughter, Taylor (Alex) Walters; 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, September 22, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pearl Webb Cemetery in Canmer.

Visitation will begin after 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
