Lura Geneva Peace, 96, of Magnolia, passed away, Monday, November 8, 2021, at Baptist Health Louisville.
She was a member of Mt. Zion Separate Baptist Church, retired from GE in Louisville and was an avid quilter, she and some of her sisters were known as the “Peace Makers” they sold quilts all over the world, they were pleased to have some of their quilts hang in the United States Capital Building.
Geneva was preceded in death by her husband, Albert “Shorty” Peace; two grandsons, William “Billy” Albert Peace and Robbie Peace; eight sisters, Rosie Jones, Mattie Pottinger, Ermine Gardner, Gertie Hattaway, Lucille Hall, Helen Ragland, Ruby Benningfield and Lena Peace; five brothers, Jodie, Richard, Gentry, Elbert and Johnnie Slayton.
She is survived by a daughter, Sandy (Phillip) Johnson of Cape Coral, Florida; two sons, Rodney (Willie Ann) Peace of Magnolia and Rev. Dennis (Linda) Peace of Paris, Kentucky; a sister, Ann Goff of Louisville; 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, November 11, at Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home Bro. James Crim and Bro. Gerald Gardner officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
