Lile James West, age 88, of the Maxine Community, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at Bowling Green Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was a member of Friendship #2 Baptist Church near Hodgenville; an Army Veteran; retired from Gates Rubber Company and enjoyed fishing, especially with Adam and Bruce, mowing his lawn and riding 4-wheelers.
Lile was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Rosa Criswell West; eight siblings, Cassie Honeycutt, Ryan “Buddy” West, Bessie LaFollette, Raymond West, Frank West, Edna Frances West, Barbara Nunn and Joe West and a son-in-law, Adam Ziegler.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Peggy West; two daughters, Vickie Love and Donna (Jason) Dailey; a grandson, Bruce Jeffers; three siblings, Dora Brown, Betty (Quincy) LaFollette and Ernie (Vickie) West; two step-grandchildren, Jenna and Jay Dailey and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 20, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Bro. Stewart Skaggs officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship #2 Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
