Leonard “Speedy” Akermon, age 85, of Hodgenville, passed away, Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville.
He was a proud graduate of the last class at Buffalo High School in 1958.
Speedy was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Adell Bernice Goff Akermon and a brother, Jerry Akermon.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Raikes Akermon; three children, Sheila Akermon (Steve) Haselwood, Shellie Akermon (Todd) Thompson and Leonard “Lyn” (Angela) Akermon, Jr.; seven grandchildren, Alana Haselwood, Ali (Toby) Loyall, Jackson Thompson, Morgan (Kendall) Roller, Alison Akermon, Alyssa Akermon and Ethan (Callie) Kirkpartick and three great-grandchildren, Tucker Loyall, Lacey Loyall and Dallas Kirkpatrick.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, February 19, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Rev. Jonathan Carl officiating. Burial will follow in Buffalo Cemetery.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
