Lena Slayton Peace, age 94, of Magnolia, passed away, Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at Helmwood Healthcare in Elizabethtown.
She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, retired manager of the post exchange at Ft. Knox, Lena and six of her sister’s created the “Piece Makers” they made artisan quilts that went all over the world.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Coolidge Peace; her parents, Elie and Myrtle Gore Slayton; seven sisters, Rosie Jones, Mattie Pottinger, Ermine Gardner, Gertie Hattaway, Lucille Hall, Helen Ragland and Ruby Benningfield; five brothers, Jodie, Richard, Gentry, Elbert and Johnnie Monroe Slayton.
Lena is survived by two sisters, Geneva Peace of Magnolia and Ann Goff of Louisville; a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2 pm Sunday, December 27, at Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia, Bro. James Crim officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Visitation will begin after 11:30 am Sunday at the funeral home.
