LaDorothy Mae (Bailey) Hutchinson

LaDorthy Mae (Bailey) Hutchinson, age 85 years, of Hodgenville, KY formerly of Chicago, IL passed away 21 December 2018 at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville, KY.

LaDorthy was the seventh child born to William McKinley Bailey and Ludia Mae Smith-Bailey 20 March 1933 in Mound Bayou, MS.  LM as she was so lovingly known by her family, was a loving child, always wanting to help someone.  LM accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age.  She became a member of Wanderer’s Home M.B. Church of Mound Bayou, MS where she was a member of the Sunday School and sang alto in the youth choir.  She and two of her siblings sang as a trio all over the Bolivar County, MS area.

LaDorthy attended Mound Bayou Schools where she graduated from High School, later moving to Chicago,IL where she worked for ARATEK IND CLN for 30 plus years, retiring as the local supervisor for the Chicago South location.  LM attended New Friendship M.B. Church and later united with New Nazareth M.B. Church where Reverend Doctor John E. Hopkins was her pastor.  LaDorthy sang and served in the choir for many years, choosing places for the choir to travel and perform around the country.  Many of these places she was driven by her loving son.  LaDorthy was also the Chairperson of the Pastor/Church Anniversary Committee for many years.  George Hutchinson took LaDorthy’s hand and life in marriage in 1988.  LaDorthy moved to Kentucky in 2008 to be near her son and grandchildren.  She joined Steadfast Baptist Church where Reverend Rodney Troutman is pastor.

LaDorthy was blessed to have one son James Bailey; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  She is survived by her son James Bailey of Radcliff, KY; four sisters, Thelma Hinkle of MN, Ludia Mae Nelson, Arbradella Jackson and Helen Jamison all of IL; six grandchildren Venus Bailey, Cynthia Bailey James Bailey Jr (Aria Bailey) wife, Jerard Bailey, Tonni Robertson and Jamila Ector; eight great-grandchildren; Xavier Daniels, Lauren Johnson, Jonathan Bailey, Daijah Bloomingbird, Taylor Thurman, Kegan Bailey,  Sienna Bailey and A’Kaeila Coulter; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday 28 December 2018 at 1:00 PM at Steadfast Baptist Church; Pastor Rodney Troutman will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Buffalo Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM Friday 28 December 2018 at the church until time for services.
