John Lee “Johnny” Riggs, age 87, of Hodgenville, passed away, Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown.
He was a lifelong farmer, a cattle hauler for over 50 years, an avid hunter and most of all loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Anna Reeves Riggs; two daughters, Joanna Elaine Riggs and Janetta Lee Riggs, a son-in-law, Marc Meadows; five sisters, Lucilla Scott, Marvella Aubrey, Lillias McKeen, Mary Hodge and Lois Ann Wheeler; five brothers, Clifford, Creston, J.T., Gary and Mike Riggs.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Leevey Riggs; two daughters, Danita Riggs of Hodgenville and Angela (Les) Hyatt of Lebanon, a son, Johnny (Marie) Riggs of Hodgenville; two sisters, Patricia Riggs of Lebanon and Mary Edith (Ed) Hood of Willisburg; four brothers, Carle (Janice) Riggs of Hodgenville, Earl (Julie) Riggs of Buffalo, Alford Riggs of Lawrenceburg and Charles (Debbie) Riggs of Mt. Washington; eight grandchildren, Johnny M. (Rebecca) Riggs, Dana Jones, Tyler Riggs, Chris Riggs, Patrick (Samantha) Hyatt, Alex (Brittany) Hyatt, Zander Hyatt and Landon Hyatt; 13 great-grandchildren and special friends Tommy and Hope Self.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 13, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Carle Riggs and Sis. Shirley Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the Red Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Monday and after 9 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
