Janis Roark, age 84, of Elizabethtown, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at her home.
She was born on November 11, 1936 in Jericho, LaRue County and graduated from Magnolia High School. She went on to graduate from Spencerian College in Louisville and worked in the Claims Office of State Farm Insurance in Elizabethtown. She was a homemaker for several years before resuming her career in the Proof Department of Citizens Bank in Elizabethtown, where she eventually retired. Janis was very talented and enjoyed painting and sewing, she most enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be deeply missed.
Janis was preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe and Iva Price and a sister, Hilah Price.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Hugh Roark; her sons, Daniel (Joyce) Close of Lebanon, OH and Walter Roark of Elizabethtown; five grandchildren, Matthew Close of West Chester, OH, Adam Close of Lebanon, OH, Christopher (Kaitlin) Close of Dayton, OH, Sarah Roark of Tampa, FL and Nathan Roark of Huntsville, AL; two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Aiden Close and a sister, Carolyn Milby of Magnolia.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, services will be private and she will be laid to rest in the family plot at Magnolia Cemetery.
Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia is in charge of the arrangements.
