James K. “J.K.” Edwards, age 91, of Hodgenville, passed away, Sunday, June 21, 2026, at his residence.
He was a member of Hodgenville First Baptist Church an Army veteran, former owner of Edwards Shoe Stores in Hodgenville and Campbellsville, former co-owner of Smith and Edwards Filling Station and Rogers and Edwards Filling Station, J.K. also spent several years working with his brother Edmond building houses.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Stella Jaggers Edwards; two brothers Edmond and Aaron “Duckie” Edwards and a sister, Dorothy Casselman.
J.K. is survived by his wife of 69 years, Peggy Smith Edwards, three children, Jimmy (Patty) Edwards, Suzanne (Nick) Boone and Randy (Bobbi) Edwards; five grandchildren, David (Wendi) Edwards, Brandon (Savannah) Boone, Scott (Sarah) Edwards, Nathan (Alex) Edwards and Carman (Caleb) Queen; 15 great grandchildren, Ryan Edwards, Jackson Edwards, Weston Edwards, Bryce Edwards, Fisher Boone, Lily Edwards, Ella Edwards, Reagan Queen, Campbell Boone, Asher Edwards, Jase Edwards, Kennedy Queen, Cooper Queen, Salem Edwards and McCoy Edwards.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 29, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home, Randy Edwards officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Red Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
