James H. Carter, age 78, of Hodgenville, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown.
He retired from Gates Rubber Company after more than 32 years of service.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Lura Atwell Carter; two sisters, Betty Paige and Janet Edwards and four brothers, Jerry Peace, Tommy Carter, Freddy Carter and Hugh Carter.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Bishop Carter; a daughter, Lisa Carter Grant; two sons, Ricky Carter and Tommy Melton; eight grandchildren, Justin (Abby) Carter, Kaylyn Carter, Alex Carter, BryAnna Grant, Destiny (Jordan) Hodges, Emily Metcalf, Matthew (Kim) Melton and Clinton Melton; seven great-grandchildren, Knox and Wren Carter, Kinzlee Hodges and Taylor, Ryleigh, Emma and Hazel Melton; a sister, Shirley (Mitchell) Warren and two brothers, James (Darlene) Peace, Jr. and Robert Peace.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Bro. Obadiah Okeson officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Sherman Cemetery.
Visitation begins after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
