Iva Jean Mattingly Newberry, age 86, of Hodgenville, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2024, at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown.
She was a member of Hodgenville Pentecostal Church and attended LaRue Baptist Church in her later years, was an avid UK Basketball fan and retired as Food Service Manager for LaRue County Schools after 39 years of service.
Iva Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Newberry; her parents, Andrew and Lillie Nunn Mattingly; a sister, Faye Salsman; a brother, Harold Mattingly and her son-in-law, Jerry Buckles.
She is survived by a daughter, Debbie Buckles of Elizabethtown; a son, Randy (Patsy) Newberry of Hodgenville; two sisters, Naomi (Bill) Thomas of Louisville and Doris (Bobby) Larimore of Hodgenville; four grandchildren, Tiffany (Jon) Anderson, Cara Newberry (Brady) Hamilton, Kyle Buckles and Drew (Brittany) Newberry; two great-grandchildren, Kinsley Anderson and Kade Anderson; a sister-in-law, Carol Newberry of Raven, VA; her longtime friend and caregiver, Vanessa Bowen Combs and her Sunrise Manor Nursing Home family and staff.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Tuesday, August 27, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville. Burial will follow in Red Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday and after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Iva Jean’s pallbearers will be Drew Newberry, Kyle Buckles, Jon Anderson, Brady Hamilton, Wendy Kennedy and Mark Wimpsett.
