Harold Wayne Morehead, 84, of Hodgenville, was called to his Heavenly home and to reunite with his love of 65 years on July 15, 2022.
He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. He was a highly skilled home and pool builder and retired owner and operator of Harold Morehead Construction.
Harold first worked at the old JJ Newberry store in Elizabethtown and later as an insurance salesman with Commonwealth Insurance around Owensboro. After moving back to Hodgenville with his wife and growing family, he began working at General Electric in Louisville. While working nights at GE, Harold began growing his construction business in the daylight hours. After working two jobs for almost 10 years, Harold finally took the plunge into the entrepreneurial world as full-time owner and operator of his successful business- Harold Morehead Construction. He not only built homes, but remodeled and repaired homes for so many in the surrounding area. Harold was builder, contractor, plumber, and electrician. He did it all! Many years later, he added in-ground swimming pool construction to his many skills. If you ask anyone whom he did work for - two words will come to mind - Quality and Honesty!
Harold was preceded in death by his loving sweetheart of 65 years, Margaret Ray Morehead on August 26, 2021; his youngest son, Jamie Morehead; his parents, Stanley and Mildred Smith Morehead and a brother, Larry Wilson Morehead.
He leaves behind his oldest son, Wayne Morehead; four daughters, Cheryl (Steve) Canada, Monica (Danny) Flanders, Selena Humphrey and Maureen (Chris) Thompson; 13 grandchildren, Christopher Canada, Alicia Lanford, Lexi Cox, Emily Hambaugh, Sami Flanders, Matt Flanders, Leah McDowell, Steven Morehead, Jacob Morehead, Christina Thompson, Alec Thompson, Jackie Thompson and Ella Thompson; 12 great-grandchildren, Daylen Lanford, Keller Lanford, Keaton Morehead, Lilly Rose Cox, Zane Hambaugh, Malik Hambaugh, Garrett Flanders, Grayson Flanders, Beckham McDowell, Lakyn McDowell, Deagan Marte and Evelyn Morehead.
Funeral mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Hodgenville with Father Brian Kenney and Father Pablo Hernandez officiating. Burial will follow in St. James Catholic Church Cemetery in Elizabethtown.
Visitation is from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday with prayer service starting at 7:30 p.m. and continues from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Bennett- Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville.
