Edward Ray McDowell, age 89, of Hodgenville, passed away Monday, December 19, 2022, at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown.
He was a member and deacon emeritus at South Fork Baptist Church; retired Postmaster of Hodgenville Post Office and his many past and present hobbies include running, gardening, woodworking and spending time in the barn.
Ray was preceded in death by a son, Roy Neal McDowell; his parents, Roy Edward McDowell and Dorothy DeSpain McDowell Howell and a sister, Ruby McDowell Heady.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Yvonne Hunter McDowell; two daughters, Amanda Crider of Louisville and Denise (Kelly) Lawless of Hodgenville; two sons, David (Nicole) McDowell of Jacksonville, FL and Alan (Kim) McDowell of Clarksville, TN; a daughter-in-law, Susan McDowell of Elizabethtown; two brothers, Jimmie (Liane) McDowell and Mike (Chris) Howell, all of Hodgenville; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 22, at South Fork Baptist Church with Bros. Sid Lewis, Jonathan Carl and Brandon Walker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.
