Donald “ Donnie” Mason Goatley, age 51, of Sonora, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, January 15, 2025, after a hard-fought battle with cancer at the University of Kentucky Bluegrass Hospice Care Center in Lexington.
His dedication to the fields he tended, his deep-rooted love for the Oak Hill community, his willingness to always lend a helping hand and his loud, proud and unwavering love for Jesus leaves behind a legacy that will never be forgotten.
If you knew Donnie or just happened to cross paths with him, you know he never met a stranger and always had a smile on his face that no doubt would brighten anyone’s day. Along with arms that were stretched out to give you the most genuine hug you’ve ever had.
Memories of the many harvest seasons that were completed on a red tractor, very rarely on any other color, rides through the fields to check the cattle and trips across the map in a semi-truck are some that will be cherished by many friends and family alike.
Donnie is preceded in death by his dad, Bill Goatley; a lifelong best friend and mother of his children, Angel Goatley; and his best buddy, BUZZ.
He is survived by his son, Mason (Bridgette) Goatley of Upton; a daughter, Coty (Kane) Beckwith of Elizabethtown; his mother, Judy Goatley of Sonora; his brother, Billy (Paula) Cottrell of Sonora; eight grandchildren, Kaya, Roan, Jace and Noah Beckwith, Lorissa, Brooklyn, Macie and Hallie Goatley.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 22, at Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia, Bro. Billy Curle officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
