Brenda Kay Weathers Handley, 81, of Hodgenville, was born to the late Paul Roy and Thelma Lee Owens Weathers on October 20, 1940 and passed away March 8, 2022.
Brenda professed her faith in Christ at an early age and has been a lifelong member of Lane Lincoln Memorial CME Church. From her favorite song with the Hodgenville Adult Choir, “Without Him I could be nothing, without Him I’d surely fail. Oh, without Him life would be drifting, like a ship without a sail.”
She attended Georgetown Elementary, Bond Washington High School and a Business and Technical School in Louisville and retired from LaRue County Health Department.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Wayne Handley; a son, Dennis Weathers; grandson, Troy Weathers, two sisters, Patsy Cobb and Mary Lynn Thurman and a brother, Joe David Thurman.
Loving memories and thanks to Nora Bell Boone Weathers; our grandmother, Sarah and Arvin Weathers, Laura and Augustus Thurman.
Brenda is survived by three children, Vera Weathers, Andre (Shakara) Weathers and Kerwin (Kaitlyn) Weathers; a sister, Sue Ann Best and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
“Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.” God’s got it all in control.
