Bernice Kessler Talley, age 88, of the Jonesville Community near Magnolia, passed away Friday, August 20, 2021, at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown.
She was a member of Pikeview Baptist Church and a former member of Three Forks Bacon Creek Baptist Church, loved praising God, sharing her faith through music, often singing solos and visiting other churches in her community. Bernice also loved cooking for “company” and her family; sewing for her family and made many beautiful hand-stitched quilts; growing vegetables and beautiful flowers and caring for her animals. She worked for many years as a seamstress and from 1980 to 1993 worked for E-town Sportswear, after retiring she worked as a caregiver for several years.
Bernice was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, William Junior Talley; her parents, Damon and Ella Ward Kessler; a sister, Margie Kessler; a brother, Norman Kessler; a daughter-in-law, Mary Talley and two brothers-in-law, Tom Skaggs and Donald Sydnor.
She is survived by a daughter, Joyce Ann (Ron) Graham of Vine Grove; a son, Steven Rocky Talley of Elizabethtown; three sisters, Hazel Skaggs, Sue Sydnor and Patsy (Charlie) Hart; a sister-in-law, Myrial Kessler; four grandchildren, Ronald (Beth) Graham, Jr., George (Julie) Graham, Beverly (Paul) Grunwald and Tammy Wartluft and several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM (ET), Monday, August 23, 2021, at Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia with Rev. Gary Talley officiating. Burial will follow in the Hammonsville Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 PM (ET), Sunday and after 10 AM (ET), Monday at the funeral home.
