Arnold "Dale" Thompson

Arnold Dale Thompson, age 87, of Hodgenville, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2024 at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown. 

Dale grew up attending church every Sunday. He was a devoted family man with a talent for fixing anything, a strong work ethic, and a sharp business sense. While he enjoyed NASCAR and bowling, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family—his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom he cherished deeply.  Dale hoped people would remember him as a "good person."

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Janet Thompson; his parents, Earl and Alma Pepper Thompson; two sisters, Patsy Warren and Kathy Williams; three brothers, Earl Jr., Lawrence and Thomas Thompson and granddaughter, Elizabeth Watson. 

Dale is survived by three daughters, Lisa (Michael) Watson of Alabama, Patti (Gerald) DeVary of Hodgenville, Carla (Lewis) Sloan of Hodgenville; a son, Jonathan (Rob Johnson) Thompson of Lexington; a sister, Phyllis Moss; four brothers, Harold, Clifton, Phillip and Donnie Thompson; seven grandchildren, Brandon (Sarah) Watson, Zachary Watson, Olivia (Rendi) Dandapa, Micah Watson, Jadon Watson, Seth DeVary and Chloe (Dawson) Bingham and three great-grandchildren, Margot and Elyse Watson and Naomi Dandapa. 

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Sunday, September 22, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Bro. DeWayne Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Red Hill Cemetery. 

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and after 11 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
