Wendell Carroll Benningfield, age 75, of Magnolia, died on Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.
Bro. Wendell was a deacon, song leader, and former Sunday School teacher at Mt. Salem Separate Baptist Church. He had battled cancer since being diagnosed in 2002. He was dedicated to his family and has been a faithful servant of God since being saved in April of 1968.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Ethel Benningfield; his infant son, Robert Wesley Benningfield; his in-laws, Delard and Grace Thompson; his infant sister, Betty Benningfield and two brothers, Leamon and Curtis Benningfield.
He is survived by his wife, Frieda Kay Thompson Benningfield; his daughter, Ruth (Billy) Middleton; his sons, Tim (Cathy) Benningfield and Mark (Nikki) Benningfield; six grandchildren, Courtney Benningfield, Leah Middleton, Luke Middleton, Eli Benningfield, Jaiden Manco and Logan Manco; a sister, Connie (Larry) Jaggers and two brothers, Harlan (Mary) Benningfield and Bill (Martha) Benningfield.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM (ET), Saturday, October 6, 2018, at Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home with Revs. Eudell Stilts, Steven Warner and Melvin Underwood officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Moriah Church Cemetery near Mt. Sherman.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 PM (ET), Friday and after 10 AM (ET) Saturday at the funeral home.
