Ruel Gordon Bright, age 72 years, of Sonora, passed away, Thursday, March 8, 2018 at his residence.
He was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church in Sonora, where he served as a Sunday school teacher, former employee for the City of Hodgenville, former employee for Lincoln Tool & Die, Inc. in Hodgenville, and a proud United States Navy veteran, having served as a boiler technician in the Vietnam War.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Orland and Cleona Mae Tucker Bright, a brother and sister-in-law, Roland and Creda Bright and a great-nephew, Levi Bright.
He is survived by his wife, of 47 years, Kay Allen Bright; four sisters, Charlotte (Donald) Millet of Louisiana, Linda (Sendal) Milby of Buffalo, Lois (Russell) Strader of Sonora and Tracey (Gary) Brandenburg of Hodgenville; his mother-in-law, Lillian Allen of Louisville; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carol and Gene Hornback of Louisville; his special companion, Lady and several nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, March 10, 2018, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Gene Hornback and Brad Turner officiating. Burial will follow with full military rites in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 PM, Friday and after 10 AM, Saturday at the funeral home.
