Dolly Mae Coogle Taylor, was born on March 27, 1930, to the late Ervin and Regina Cortie Coogle in a little place called Crossroads in Hardin County and passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at Hardin Memorial Hospital with loved ones by her side.
Dolly worked at Phillip Morris International and Goodwin Preserving Company in Louisville. She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Hodgenville and served on the PTA for several years, recently she was a member of the Senior Citizens Center in New Haven.
Dolly only had and education up to the 8th grade, she was determined to complete her education and in her later years studied and received her GED diploma. Way to go Mom!
She was well known for her baked biscuits, canned garden vegetables and her delicious chocolate cake. Some fun facts about Dolly not widely known is that she could yodel and she could sing the Alphabet Song backwards.
Dolly was a wonderful mother who loved to sing songs to her children while swinging in the front porch swing. She always had books, board games and cards to keep her children occupied. Dolly loved sewing Halloween costumes for her grandchildren.
Dolly was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, David Birk Taylor on April 2, 1991; her parents; a brother, Leo Coogle and a sister, Dorothy Jones.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children, Daniel Taylor of Greenback, TN, Sharon Williams of Hodgenville; Michael (Patricia) Taylor of Clarksville, TN, Madonna (Eugene) Watson of Bristol, VA, Eric (Connie) Taylor of Hodgenville, Sue (Bobby) Warren of Hodgenville, Lisa Taylor of Grayson and Bruce Taylor of Hodgenville; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; her youngest brother Ervin Lee Coogle and a brother-in-law, Robert Jones.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 AM, Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville. A graveside service will follow at St. Joachim Cemetery near White City with Jessica Sadler providing the eulogy.
