Charles Thomas Riggs, age 73 years, of Hodgenville, passed away, Thursday, October 18, 2018 at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.
He was a member of Union Band Baptist Church, retired from Gates Rubber Company in Elizabethtown after several years of service, an Army Veteran, member of the American Legion Post 87 in Hodgenville, a Kentucky Colonel, operated and conducted the Senior Citizen’s Center Saturday Night activities for several years, an avid gardener, who loved giving away his vegetables and he loved making music.
He was preceded in death by a son, Tony Riggs, his parents, Sam and Mae Priddy Riggs, a sister, Frances Hornback and two brothers, Junior Riggs and Calvin Riggs.
He is survived by his wife, of 51 years, Viola Riggs, a son, Steve (Mary Rose) Riggs of Hodgenville, three sisters, Mable (Russell) Hornback and Brenda Hornback both of Sonora and Alma Borders of Radcliff, a brother, Carlos (Roberta) Riggs of Stanford, a half-brother, Ellis Beeler of Sonora and two granddaughters, Mallory Grace Riggs and Abigail Elizabeth Riggs.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, October 22, 2018 at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Pastor Davey Graham officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joachim Cemetery in White City.
Visitation will be 1-8 PM Sunday and after 9 AM Monday at the funeral home.
