James William “Bill” Wilkins, age 90, of Elizabethtown, formerly of Hodgenville, passed away, Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Helmwood Healthcare Center in Elizabethtown with his family by his side.
The LaRue County native was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in White City and attended Salem Christian Church in Hodgenville. He served as a seaman first class in the United States Navy and retired from General Electric in Louisville. He enjoyed farming for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wonderful wife of 59 years, Susie Dedman Wilkins, a special son, Keith Wilkins, his parents, Everett and Lucy Harris Wilkins, a sister, Lula Belle Wilkins Dever and five brothers, Lloyd Wilkins, Jason Wilkins, Donald Wilkins, Bobby Wilkins and Ivy Wilkins.
He is survived by his daughter, Kim (Todd) Estes of Cecilia; a very special granddaughter, Amy (Jonathan) Brand of Bowling Green and three sisters-in-law, Sandy Wilkins of Milsap, Texas, Linda Wilkins of Hodgenville and Sharon Wilkins of Louisville.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Bro. Sid Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Salem Christian Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 PM Wednesday and after 9 AM Thursday at the funeral home.
